Rev. Joe & Mrs. Roxann McKnight

Pastor & Wife

Pastor Joe McKnight, born and raised in a Pastor’s home, understood salvation and involvement in church at a young age. When he was only 6 years old, he was baptized and received the Holy Ghost and began dedicating his life to the work of the Lord. He grew up in the Nashville, TN, area, graduated from high school and later continued his education in Theology and Psychology.

At the age of 16, he accepted his call to ministry on Easter Sunday, April 2, 1972. As a young man, he was Worship Director for church services and preached locally. Although he co-owned a business with his brother and became a Licensed Contractor, his true heartbeat is ministry. In pursuit of his love for ministry, he was Ordained and became a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ in September, 1988. His first tenure as Pastor was at Milledgeville Pentecostal Church. He became Youth President of the Tennessee District ALJC and served in that capacity until moving to Blue Mountain, Mississippi, in 1990 as Youth Pastor for The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain. After one year as Youth Pastor, he became Pastor in May, 1991, serving until 1998. After a 3-year transition he returned in May, 2001, as Pastor and continues to serve as Pastor of The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain.

While in Tennessee he served on the Board for Iron Hill Christian Academy. After moving to Mississippi he served on the Blue Mountain Children’s Home Board and was Chairman of that Board for many years. He served on the New Beginnings International Children’s & Family Services Board. He has taught instructive classes, preached Conferences, revivals and services coast to coast. He served as Section 1 Presbyter of the Mississippi District ALJC for 10 ½ years, as the Assistant Superintendent of the Mississippi District ALJC for 4 years and presently serves as Superintendent of the Mississippi District ALJC.

Pastor McKnight married his wife, Roxann Prater McKnight, June 10, 1977. Prior to their marriage, Roxann began singing with a gospel group and enjoyed many years of travel with them and working on music projects. She worked with the Election Commission Office. She later continued her education and began teaching in a Christian school where she also worked with the Drama Department and Chapel. She has continued to be involved with music throughout the years, serving as musician, singer and Choir Director. She currently is involved in the Music Department; serves as Office Manager, graphic designer of publications and webmaster; and is the Computer Systems Administrator for The Pentecostal Church. She has served the MS District Women’s Esprit as Vice-President and currently serves as MS District ALJC WE President. Roxann loves serving in ministry with her husband and shares his commitment for God’s kingdom work.

Pastor McKnight’s passion for ministry is evidenced in his genuine love for souls. His compassion has touched the lives of many. He launched a local Christian Intervention Program. He is a Nationally Certified Facilitator for Crossroads Curriculum and launched a local ReConnect Program promoting "Effective Paths for Behavior Change" for adults and youth. He enjoys being involved with the Community often serving on panels for City planning and activities. He Pastors his congregation with love, encouraging guidance and the true heart of a shepherd. His vision is for The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain to be as a ‘city set on a hill’; a sanctuary where the hurting and the weary find solace. With his motto, “Reaching Upward To God And Outward To Man”, Pastor McKnight maintains his fervor for the gospel and his commitment to connecting the called according to His purpose.
